Water and Sanitation Senitor Specialist, Marketing assistant Manager with CARE Aus
Do you have what it takes to lead one of the world's largest aid and development organisations in your field of expertise? This exciting new role will require you to draw on all of your experience in emergency water and sanitation work to develop global policy, best practice guidelines, work with all CARE Country Offices and represent CARE International in the WASH cluster system.

This is a global roaming position, servicing all parts of the entire CARE International family. The base location for this position can be negotiated; our preference however is to base this position out of Australia or Southeast Asia.

Areas of Responsibility:

Core Functions

1. Lead CARE International's engagement in and development of the emergency watsan sector in order to expand CARE's capacity in this focus sector.
2. Develop CARE's emergency sectoral best practices in order to enhance CARE technical capacity in the emergency watsan sector.
3. Ensure that country offices and CI members receive technical assistance in the emergency watsan sector in order that all CARE interventions in the sector meet established quality criteria.
4. Represent CARE International in the emergency watsan sector in order that CARE contributes to, learns from, and is recognized as a leading participant within the global emergency sector community.
5. Establish strategic emergency sector partnerships in order to best leverage CARE's work in the emergency watsan sector.

Support Functions

1. Provide technical support to the development of emergency sector human resources capacity in order that CARE has qualified emergency sector personnel available to support its emergency work.
2. Provide technical support to facilitate and maximize global level fundraising opportunities for CARE's work in the emergency watsan sector.
3. Support the CEG Quality & Accountability adviser in effective emergency watsan sector learning and evaluation in order that CARE can strengthen the quality and accountability of its work in the sector.
4. Support and contribute to CARE's overall humanitarian policy, advocacy, strategy and media relations efforts in order to strengthen CARE's humanitarian work.

Desired Experience and Background:

1. Significant experience in the emergency watsan sector including preparedness, response, and poverty reduction
2. Experience with natural and complex political emergencies in diverse cultural and climatic settings
3. Experience in program design, management, monitoring and evaluation, including application of SPHERE standards
4. Experience in policy development
5. Strong skills and experience in external relations with donors, UN and others, including developing partnerships, fundraising, negotiation and liaison
6. Excellent training, coaching and mentoring skills
7. High level of writing and communication skills
8. Willingness to spend high proportion of time traveling away from home
9. Language skills: English fluency and preferably a second relevant language (i.e. French, Spanish)
